Women’s Day Celebration for SHGs of Manoharpur GP-3 and Tararui GP-2

Gonpada Navjeewan Welfare Trust this year too conducted a Women’s Day Celebration on International Women’s Day 8thMarch, 2022. The theme of this year’s Women’s Day was ‘Gender Equality Today for a Sustainable Tomorrow’. The Women’s Day Celebration was attended by 600 SHG members from two Panchayats of Manoharpur and Tararui. The celebration was graced by guests such as Mrs. Koyel Singha Advocate of Dantan Court as Chief Guest and Mrs. Jarna Das, the Child and Women Development Officer of Dantan Block. The Women’s Day Celebration started with a silent rally where the women held a banner and placards showing solidarity and giving awareness to the people of the surrounding areas. After the rally, the program began with a prayer dance by the hostel girls followed by a welcome address by Fr. Lawrence the Director of GNWT. The program then moved forward with the lighting of the Lamp by the distinguished guests. With this, the program took momentum with dances and songs from the women of various villages. The chief guest Mrs. Koyel Singha and the guest of honour Mrs. Jarna Das also addressed the women and urged them to come forward, educate their daughters and make themselves aware of their rights. The program ended with a prayer by Fr. Saroj Kumar Hess where all women held lit candles and observed silence for peace to prevail in the war between Ukraine and Russia. The vote of thanks was given by Mrs. Kalpana. The women were distributed sweets on the return to their homes.
