Every year people across the world observe 5th June as World Environment Day to spread awareness on the castrophic climatic changes caused largely due to human action like- deforestation, pollution, global warming, etc. This year the day was themed as “ecosystem restoration”. Since protection and preservation of environment is one of the crucial aspects of our work, we undertook the task of distributing fruit saplings (Mango, Jackfruit and Lemon) to 36 families from 3 villages (Tatipara, Moysachakra and Choto Gobra) to encourage plantation of more tress in and around agricultural land and to promote the usage of eco-friendly agricultural products to ensure sustainable environment. Mr. Saroj Kumar Hess and Mr. Basudev Pingua, the special invitees for the programme addressed the whole idea of “ecosystem restoration” as “the overall healing of the environment”. He said that the indigenous are very close to nature and shall make every effort to take care of nature, since “Jal, Jameen and Jungle” (water, land, and forest) are a crucial part of their unique existence.
