Activity objective: To guide women to become better and responsible home makers

Resource Person: Mrs. Nitha Rav, retired teacher at Sacred Heart School, Kharagpur

On 13th February, 2022, GNWT had organized an animation programme for tailoring trainees at Dibyo Bani Niketan, Gonpada, with a purpose to help the trainees to build themselves by understanding their responsibilities as a homemaker. The event started with registration at 10.30am. The programme commenced with a general welcome by Mr. Ajit Mandi, GNWT animator, followed by a prayer song led by tailoring trainees of Fatehpur centre. Fr. Lawrence D’Almeida Secretary of GNWT in his opening address thanked all the participants for responding to the call and briefed about the developmental initiatives undertaken by GNWT. He even stressed that when an individual enters the portals of GNWT, he/she becomes a member of this family; thus, GNWT provides several self-growing opportunities and guidance to each one of them for better living. Sr. Laveena, the Field Coordinator then took over the session and conducted two games through which brought to the notice of the participants the importance of active listening and teamwork. Through inspiring videos, she brought home the message that if we have desire and determination we can achieve everything in life. Then the participants had tea break.

At 11.30 they gathered together for the session by Mrs. Nitha Rav, the retired teacher of Sacred Heart School, Kharagpur. She was welcomed by Fr. Lawrence and introduced to the group. She began her session with a question “We are women but are we weak?” And further explained the role of a woman in a family. She stated that a woman is not only a home maker but the cornerstone of a family. Without a woman, the family is incomplete. Everything that a woman does in the family is not reflected in books, but it is imbibed in her and it is the gift of God. Thus, we must imbibe humility which makes our living better rather than being proud of what we have because all that we have is from God.  Another quality to be inculcated by all is a sense of gratitude to God for all that he has given. She stressed upon faith in God and faith in oneself. She also called upon the participants to inculcate these values in their children, especially when they are small. She concluded her session by saying a woman can make the family or break the family. Mrs. Laksmi Das, GNWT Field Animator concluded the session with vote of thanks on behalf of the participants after which all departed for lunch
