Animators Meeting with Mr. Dipak Mondal

On 21^st May 2022, the field animators of GNWT had a meeting with the resource person Mr. Dipak Mondal. The objective of the meeting was to discuss the issues that arise when working with the SHGs and the ways in which they will be able to animate these SHG Groups. The animators put forward various questions to the resource person such as the ways to make women understand the reasons for conducting training programs and ways to motivate the old SHGs to conduct and attend meetings. Regarding the above-mentioned questions, Mr. Dipak Mondal told the animators that the firstly, after the formation of a new SHG, it is important that they visit the SHG often to guide them as they do not have knowledge of SHG. Secondly, he told them that the leader must be made aware of her responsibilities and only when she understands the responsibility and work of SHG, she can make her members understand. If the leader cannot make the members understand, then the animators must guide the group. It is important to find out the weak points of the SHG and work alongside with them in their troubles. Only in doing this there can be good rapport built with the SHG and its members and they will be willing to take part in the SHG and its work. The animators must talk about the things happening in the day-to-day life of the people and their surroundings to make them understand. Things such as health, child education and so on must be done to capture their interest and at the same time make them more aware. Eventually, the women must be able to conduct meetings and move towards growth of the SHG, their families and the community. The animators were grateful to Mr. Dipak for bestowing clarity in their work and the methods to dealing with various issues among the SHGs.
