Gonpada Navjeevan Welfare Trust has been encouraging the women and youth of the villages to get empowered and move forward both socially and economically. As a means of developing the skill, confidence, personality and the quality of life, the Trust has begun the Tailoring Unit. At present, the Trust has completed the 3 months Tailoring Course in Bejda, Fatehpur, Jhatia and is ongoing in Manoharpur. With the objective to reach out to more people the Trust began this mobile tailoring center so that the women and the youth can access the services at their doorsteps. After the completion of the 3-month course at Jhatia, the Trust inaugurated another mobile tailoring center in Rajnagar. Rajnagar Village falls under Alikosa GP-1 thus making it the first activity to take place in that Gram Panchayat. With this the Trust plans to take more outreach activities in the Gram Panchayat in the future. The inauguration of the tailoring center was graced by the panchayat member Mrs. Syamali Badi and the village secretary Mr. Srimanta Maity. The inauguration program began with a prayer song followed by a welcome address by Mr. Mihir Singh. Ms. Nevidita then spoke about the Trust and the various outreach activities it undertakes. Mr. Khakon Kr. Sahoo the Tailoring Teacher spoke elaborately about the tailoring department and the tailoring course. Sr. Laveena was then invited to give a short speech to motivate the tailoring students. The panchayat member and the village secretary were then called forward to distribute the tailoring kits to the students. There were 12 tailoring students present for the program. The tailoring students and the guests were then escorted to the classroom where they inaugurated the classroom by allotting the tailoring machines to the students. The program came to an end with vote of thanks by Mr. Mihir Sing and distribution of sweets and tea.
