Gonpada Navjeevan Welfare Trust conducted a two-month Intensive Computer and Spoken English Course starting from 4th May 2022 to 30th June 2022 at Dibyo Bani Niketan Campus, Gonpada. The course was held for students who had completed their class 10 and class 12 studies with the objective of giving them an opportunity to learn Basic English and Computer which would be essential for them regarding perusing future studies, professional courses and in getting job opportunities. The course also offered personality development sessions and activities for the students with the aim of preparing them with all the required assets for their future.
The course was divided into theoretical and practical classes. The concepts were taught in the theoretical classes and theoretically learned concepts were applied and practiced through dialogues, monologues, skit, presentation, and debates etc. in the practical classes. Exercises like loud reading, phonetics practice, vocabulary building, and handwriting practice were done every day. Games and activities which would help them to interact with each other were also conducted every day. Groups and responsibilities were divided for each student to help them excel not only in knowledge but also in personality as leaders, team members and role players and to build confidence. Every Saturday, the students would put up a stage program to showcase what they have learned throughout the week.
On 20th May, the students were given career guidance and counselling session by Mr. Dipak Mondal who is a Trainer and Development Counsellor from Kolkata. The students also interacted with Ms. Juliana and Fr. Banti from DBISERI on the various short term and long-term vocational courses they offered. On 25th June, the students were taken for outing to Digha. The students visited Science City, 7D Show and the Sea Beach. It was a day of learning and refreshment for all. On 29th June, a closing session was taken by Fr. Naveen Prashanth Pinto for the students. In this session he talked about the way to go after the course and ways of managing and preparing oneself for the future.
The students were continuously evaluated through class works, homework, presentation, reading, writing, tests etc. At the end of the course, the students were evaluated with a final exam of 100 marks. The two months Intensive Computer and Spoken English Course ended with a Certificate Distribution Ceremony on 30th June.
