Women’s Day Celebration for SHGs of Ranisarai GP-10

Gonpada Navjeewan Welfare Trust conducted another Women’s Day Celebration on the occasion of International Women’s Day on 21st March, 2022 at Khatnagar Play Ground, Ranisarai. This year’s theme of Women’s Day was ‘Gender Equality Today for a Sustainable Tomorrow’. This was the first time a program was held by GNWT in that area. The Women’s Day Celebration was attended by 300 SHG members from the Panchayat of Ranisarai. The celebration was graced by the Panchayat Pradhan of Ranisorai GP Mr. Manosh Ghosh, Panchayat Upapradhan Mr. Gaberdhan Hemram, Mr Bhadra Hemram District ST Sabhapati and various other guests who were principals and teachers of various schools, Ward members and members of the Panchayat. The SHG leaders were also present among the dignified guests.
The Women’s Day Celebration started with a rally where the women held a banner and placards and shouted slogans giving awareness to the people of the surrounding areas about women and their empowerment. After the rally, the program began with a prayer dance by the hostel girls followed by a welcome address by Fr. Lawrence D’Almeida the GNWT Secretary. The program then moved forward with the lighting of the lamp by the distinguished guests followed by the distribution of certificates to the trainees who have completed their tailoring course. An inspiring speech was thereafter given by Panchayat Pradhan of GP-10 Mr. Manosh Ghosh to the women stating their woes and how they should be empowered starting within their own homely environment. With this, the program went forward with dances and songs from the women of various villages of Bejda, Nahapar, Jhatia and groups such as the BBSS. The dances and the songs captured the crowd and made them realize that women can do a lot more in coming forefront in the society. Awareness was also given to the women with the theme dance and theme songs. The guests of honour Mrs. Alpana Dey Assistant Teacher of Surya Primary School and Mr. Bhadra Hemram District ST Sabhapati also addressed the women and talked about equality that should prevail between men and women and to educate their daughters. The program ended with an outstanding dance portraying patriotism for our country India where echoes of ‘Jai Ho’ could be heard. The vote of thanks was given by the GNWT Secretary Fr. Lawrence D’ Almeida. The women and children were given sweets thereafter.
